  • prof. Deirdre McCloskey: Virtues & economics: beyond mere prudence

    We invite you to a special session of the Krakow Circle seminar with prof. Deirdre McCloskey. The basis of the paper will be the book “Bourgeois Virtues: Ethics for an Age of Commerce”.

    Deirdre McCloskey – professor of economics, history, English philology and communication at the University of Illinois in Chicago (UIC). Her main interests concern the foundations of modernity, the abuse of statistical significance in economics and other sciences, research on capitalism and the role of rhetoric in economics. Honorary doctorate honored with numerous doctorates.

    Author of many books. Last trilogy: Bourgeois Virtues: Ethics for an Age of Commerce, Bourgeois Dignity: Why Economics Can not Explain the Modern World (translated into Polish and Bourgeois Equality: How Ideas, Not Capital or Institutions, Enriched the World.
